(Arctic Monkeys) Stop The World Café – Leigh on Sea
Another Sunday morning, another breakfast opportunity, this time I ventured down to Leigh on Sea and the “Stop The World Café’ on the Broadway, Leigh on Sea. Actually it’s at the far eastern end of The Broadway, a few hundred yards from the ‘heart’ of Leigh.
My wife and I used to love wandering Leigh, but we’d never made it as far as the STW Café.

Outside Stop the World Cafe, Leigh on Sea
STW is owned and operated by the same team that operate The Lion Inn at Boreham and the Blue Strawberry Bistrot (sic) at Hatfield Peverel, that’s a strong pedigree, and it’s been open for nearly ten years, so I was optimistic.
I arrived just before ten, on a Sunday morning, and found the place packed, there were even people at the tables outside – in early March!

Inside Stop the World Cafe, Leigh on Sea
Thankfully the staff found me a small table inside and I ordered by breakfast – inevitably the “Full English” comprising ‘Poached Eggs, handcut streaky bacon, Noble & Sons Sausages, field mushroom, tomato gratin and toast‘ I added the ‘Homemade Baked Beans‘, chose sourdough toast and a black filter coffee.

Full English Breakfast
The streaky bacon was thick cut and tasty, not too fatty, and the rest of the ingredients really tasty. I wasn’t over impressed by the sausages or home made beans, but it was a worthwhile experiment.
Oh, and the coffee was delicious.
No matter, there are plenty of other breakfast options I can try on future visits, I was tempted by the “Best Bubble in the World’. Most importantly (for me), this means I now have three great weekend breakfast options within a half hour drive from home – in Chelmsford (A Canteen), Maldon (Oak House) and now Leigh on Sea.
