Older trips are somewhat older to document, predating, as they do, digital photos and online libraries.
However, in 1995 a group of us took a trip to Egypt, cruising the ‘Nile Commodore’ from Luxor to Aswan.
I designed a ‘Nile Ten’ logo, and had T Shirts printed, and a splendid time was had by all.
The basis of the logo was :
Rick Watkins- an IT consultant, looking at his watch
Maureen Watkins – famous for baking exotic cakes
Sue Amos – there was a famous incident with a tea towel
Theresa Gower- who both smoked and drank
John Griffin (aka Biffo) – the videographer of the group (those were the days when cameras were cameras)
Jon Cheese – who would often do informative pieces to Biffo’s camera
Jan Cheese – a librarian , rarely seen on holiday without a guide book
Bob (yours truly) – known then, as now, for seeking out exotic beers
Val M (my good lady) – captain of the Olympic shopping team
Val Ellis – a colleague of my wife.
These memories are particularly poignant as, since they were taken, we have lost half our members:
Maureen, Rick, Theresa, Jon Cheese and, of course, Val.
All taken too soon and greatly missed.
